Our Family Mobile
This family mobile was made just before Christmas and it’s been hanging in our front window ever since (other than to take these photos). For this mobile, I bought some air dry clay and made the balls, hearts (with our initials) and trees and then painted with them with copper and coral paints. It’s nothing too fancy, and my first time using the air dry clay, but I love that it’s a mobile and made just for us.
I have to confess, I’m in a long term relationship with mobiles. It all started when I saw an Alexander Calder’s mobile at the Philadelphia Museum of Art when I was in my early 20s.
As for the air dry clay (I used Sculpt It), I love the idea of it but most of the little things I made warped quite a bit while drying. I made a little dish for my earrings that I love and this mobile but not much else has been successful. I’ll keep trying, though.
