st vincent music

St Vincent’s St Vincent received the #1 album of the year award on some website and I thought YEAH it’s good. The first time I really took notice to her new album was just after I saw her on Saturday Night Live. I was mesmerized by the performance. Enjoy!

I heard “On The Rocks” on the radio the other day and immediately wrote down the info so I could remember to listen to it again. and again. and again. Enjoy (on soundcloud)!

For My Ears : Albin de la Simone

I needed something to listen to and quick. A painting session was about to happen. I went to Aurgasm and found a post on Albin de la Simone and that was it. I didn’t look back.

For My Ears : FILMLOOM

FILMLOOM - music to my ears

F I L M L O O M

I used to love finding new bands that write beautiful music…and here’s my attempt and getting back into it. I just found out about FILMLOOM through a music blog and the first song I heard, Sur(reality), just had me wanting to tell you about it. I just might play it again and again and again…until nap time is over. Have a listen at filmloom.bandcamp.com.

For My Ears : Tycho

tycho - ambient music

T Y C H O

Just put it on in the background and do whatever you need to do and you’ll probably have a better time doing it.

For My Ears : Beck

Beck - Morning Phase

B E C K

I haven’t listened to an album this much since I first heard Bon Iver. Beck has me wanting more and more and more. I just end up listening to this album over and over and never get tired of it. Wait. I should maybe have another listen right now. Good idea, Brina!

Have a listen to Blue Moon:

For My Ears : Damon Albarn

damon albarn - everyday robots

D A M O N   A L B A R N

I was a Blur fan, back in the day, but I haven’t much followed what Damon Albarn was up to, other than some Gorillaz stuff, and then I came across his solo album Everyday Robots. I heard the song “Everyday Robots” first and immediately fell in love…I’m not sure the rest of the songs I’ve heard have had the same impact but maybe that’s ok.

For My Ears : Posse

I used to love looking for new bands and sharing my fantastic finds on previous blogs…so I feel I must keep the tradition alive. Plus, I need to listen to more music. Let’s start with…

P O S S E

A band from Seattle that I am listening to right now and I’m feeling good about it. It reminds me of music I listened to back in the late 1990s.

Posse on Pitchfork
